Interim Place celebrates Black History Month through “Her Life Her Words” with trey anthony Canadian Comedian and Playwright of ‘da Kink in my Hair On Friday February 24, 2012, in Mississauga, Interim Place will be celebrating Black History Month through “Her Life Her Words”; an annual fundraiser to support women and their children fleeing violence in our community. The event, which will take place at the Canadian Coptic Centre in Mississauga at 1245 Eglinton Avenue West is expected to have over 200 individuals present that include supporters and friends of Interim Place, staff, families and community partners as well as the general public. Her Life Her Words is an annual fundraiser that Interim Place hosts to profile the life of extraordinary women that have contributed to society and towards the issue of violence against women. This year’s key note address will be done by “trey anthony”, a Canadian Comedian and Playwright of the groundbreaking production of ‘da Kink in my Hair. It’s an opportunity for the audience to hear about the contributions of this remarkable woman, as she shares her life story and the struggle she experienced in order to achieve her goals; and the many lives she has touched along the way. Trey’s story is one that many can relate to; it’s an opportunity for women, in particular young women to be inspired by the possibilities. It’s an opportunity to celebrate Black History Month, as we host the event in February in honour of the contributions that black women like trey have made. Lastly, it’s an opportunity for community partners, supporters and friends of the Interim Place to meet the key note speaker and to network with those present.
